“Well…” a middle-aged Indian woman in a navy uniform began in a measured voice. “Where are you from, Harrison?”

“Texas,” I replied. “My family owns a ranch down there, and I manage it with my aunt. She’s here on the cruise with me.”

The woman nodded. “Glad to have you here, Harrison,” she said, and although her tone was nice, it wasn’t very enthusiastic. “I’m Rajani Anika, staff captain.”
