Glass images, advanced pictures frozen in glass, retain perfect detail and a somewhat three-dimensional effect. Ash found two in the island crypt. In one, a younger Ash stood on an ornately carved balcony made of glass, wearing white garments, gazing out at the horizon at dawn. In the other, a younger Ash stood against a deep black background with the snake and sword insignia, surrounded by several other people, all dressed in white and with their faces blacked out.

Inside was a small, rectangular pane of glass. Within the glass shone an image, as crisp and real as if a snapshot had been taken from the moment it displayed and frozen within the pane.
