Synopsis

The end has come.

Ash and eight other survivors find themselves in a new world completely different from the lie they have lived their whole lives. On a fight for survival, and the truth, Ash begins to uncover the vast mystery behind the city, and the Sovereign Supreme's plan at work through it all. Trust dissolves among companions, and tensions grow to the breaking point as lies are slowly chipped away, revealing the unfathomable truth beneath.

The lives of everyone Ash cares about, and the entire world, are at stake. The end is fast approaching, and the final plays of the game will determine the future of humanity.

Behind the Scenes

In May 2018, writing of the book began.

On June 1, 2018, a Forum post announced that the book was being written, with an expected release date of around August or September 2018.

On June 7, 2018, an email update announced the book's title and original cover.

On July 15, 2018, a Forum post revealed three red-and-orange-themed posters for the book, two of which had fiery backgrounds and one of which had a red sunset background.

On July 26, 2018, a Forum post revealed two fiery wallpapers for the book, with the title and the tagline The Final Chapter.

On May 31, 2019, an email update announces a release date of June.

On June 27, 2019, a Forum post announced that the first draft had been completed, and only the final chapters remained to be edited.

On July 1, 2019, a Forum post announced the book's release in eBook format. The paperback format was expected to be released soon after.

On August 1, 2019, an email update announces that the complete Fallen Nation Trilogy is out.

On August 30, 2020, the cover is redesigned with a gradient title.

On November 23, 2020, the cover is redesigned with a blue-tinted background.

On January 28, 2021, the Fallen Nation Trilogy was awarded a Scholastic Gold Key for Novel Writing. The excerpt submitted alongside the complete manuscript was from Chapter Forty of Fallen Nation: Downfall.
