In late February 2021, the story was listed as one of several future short stories to come to Taylorverse Unlimited, visible only to members.

On November 4, 2021, the cover was redesigned with new fonts and a gradient title.

On November 9, 2021, writing began.

On November 11, 2021, an Instagram post announced the story, expected to be released in November.

On December 18, 2021, the decision was made to split the original story for The Gemina Journals into two volumes. The name of the story changed to The Gemina Journals Vol. 1.

On December 20, 2021, the story was finished and released.

On December 21, 2021, an email update announced the story's release and teased a second volume.

On January 10, 2022, a second volume was announced in the Taylorverse Day 2022 video.
