The Arcis train tracks are the aboveground section of the Arcis train system, which continues underground in the hidden subway system. The raised tracks are used as a marketplace and living place for many people.

Stalls were set up everywhere—some simply weathered canvas held up by rusted rods. Hunks of wood or metal substituted for counters, on which parts, food, or weapons for sale were displayed.... All along the edge of the tracks, hundreds and hundreds of people slept, all vying for the best spot on the rails. Some were curled up in rags, restlessly turning and looking around them.
